It's so satisfying to elevate the loved-yet-mundane objects I have lying around by building a composition with them. I love the way the light catches on and through those objects, casts shadows, makes colors look more or less saturated. The way the wall looked purple in contrast against these warm yellow objects in the evening light. So beautiful!

**A NOTE ABOUT GOUACHE**
Gouache is very delicate and water-soluble. Just like a watercolor painting, it must be protected from the elements and environment, and cannot get wet. It should be framed behind glass or acrylic to display in your home. 12 x 12" is a common size and is likely available at your local frame shop. Better yet, mat it out to a 16 x 16", also a findable frame size (though not as common!). This will help protect the edges of the painting and make it easier to handle and prevent damage. Plus, it looks more formal, if that's your thing.
